Imsouane's sheltered Bay works in a wide range of swell sizes, so it's surfable for most of the year, though the biggest and most powerful conditions arrive between October and April.
Summer typically brings smaller, gentler waves at the Bay, which is when the wave is at its most beginner-friendly.

The nearest airport is Agadir Al Massira (AGA), around 65km south of Imsouane, roughly a 1 hour 15 minute drive along the coastal road.
It's also possible to fly into Marrakech and drive the coastal route via Essaouira, though this takes closer to 3.5 hours. Most Imsouane camps can arrange a transfer from either airport.
Imsouane is one of the best places in Morocco to learn to surf. The Bay's long, gentle wave gives beginners far more time on their feet than a typical beach break.
Camps supply board and wetsuit rental, and a 3/2mm wetsuit is comfortable most of the year. Because the wave is so forgiving, even a first-time surfer can expect to link several turns together within a few days.
Imsouane is quieter and centred around the Bay, a long, mellow wave that's particularly beginner-friendly, whereas Taghazout has faster point breaks and a livelier town.
